Meet Attorney Lawrence D. Tackett

With more than fifty years of legal experience, my practice is founded on deep knowledge, proven skill, and a genuine commitment to helping people through life’s most difficult challenges. Since opening my firm in 1975, I’ve guided clients from all walks of life through bankruptcy, family law, criminal defense, and personal injury matters, always with compassion, integrity, and care.

My legal career is defined by both breadth and depth of experience. I am licensed to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Tax Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and every U.S. District and Bankruptcy Court in Texas, including the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts. Over the decades, I’ve successfully argued cases before the Fifth Circuit and even won a case before the U.S. Supreme Court, an honor that reflects my dedication to legal excellence and thorough preparation.

Much of my work focuses on helping clients overcome serious financial difficulties, including bankruptcy filings, IRS tax levies, judgment liens, and wage or bank account garnishments. I approach every case with the same goal: to restore stability and clarity through practical, results-driven solutions.

Beyond the courtroom, I am devoted to my community. I regularly provide pro bono representation and reduced-fee services to vulnerable clients, including single mothers and individuals in financial hardship. I also served as a Little League baseball coach for ten years and continue to support local organizations such as the Montgomery County Food Bank.

When I’m not practicing law, I enjoy skiing, scuba diving, and baseball, activities that remind me of the balance between focus, discipline, and passion that I strive to bring to my legal work. I offer a free initial consultation and am available for weekend appointments upon request.
